19th ANNUAL REPORT (2011-12)

  • 1.HIGHLIGHTS OF MAJOR ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
    • a) The College excelled in all fields of 'overall inclusive education' including, academics, sports, NCC, cultural activities, co-curricular activities thereby personifying complete growth and empowerment of the Girl student. The fields where the college stood out are as enumerated below.
    • b) Academics. Enrolment of 289 students during the year in the first year of the Under Graduate courses in BA (Prog), BA Hindi (Hons), B Sc (Prog) Physical Sciences with Computers. B Sc (Prog) Physical Sciences with Chemistry and B Com (Prog). A creditable pass percentage in various programmes of courses under a qualified and dedicated faculty.
    • c) Infrastructure. Upgradation of classrooms and lecture halls. The Dept. of Physics shifted into new premises with advanced labs. A new building comprising of 20 rooms, including Biology and Chemistry labs, is nearing completion. State-of-the-art Computer Centre has been established which provides for two fully networked computer labs and a wi-fi enabled campus. A new Dining hall has been constructed as part of student utility. A modern Audio-Visual hall with ramp facilities for 'specially abled' personnel is under construction.
    • d) Facilities. A rich library with more than 22,000 books, subscription to 52 magazines and journals and 14 multi lingual news dailies. A separate teacher's reading room. Two new buses for ferrying students from the adjacent areas have been commissioned.
    • e) Activities. A host of activities were conducted at the College to impart quality exposure and conducive growth to the students. Yoga and aerobic classes, national camps, NCC activities, seminars, lectures and talks by eminent speakers, participation in sports at National and International levels, cultural festivals were a step in this direction. Many students did themselves and the college proud in the field of sports. Some of the accomplishments are Bronze medal in Taekwondo International Championship, Gold medal in 500m and Silver medal in 1500m in Inter Collegiate Athletic Meet, Bronze medal in 7th Federation Cup Women Nationals. Nine volunteers participated in National Integration Camp and won prizes in solo and group dance and song events. NCC cadets participated in first ever NCC Parade organised at University of Delhi and NCC camps at Merrut, Gujrat, Bihar, Sikkim, Punjab and Delhi Cantt. Quiz completion by AIMA was held and two of the students were selected for Inter College Quiz Competion.
    • f) Placements. Educom and Genpact organsied lectures for placements, giving the students an insight into the world beyond.

  • 4.ACHEIVEMENTS IN SPORTS AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AT THE UNIVERSITY/INTER UNIVERSITY/REGIONAL/NATIONAL LEVEL:
    • a) Ms.Sarita BA Prog II yr- Bronze Medal in Taekwondo at International level held in Nepal.
    • b) Ms. Renu BA Prog IIyr- Bronze Medal in Boxing in the 7th Federation Cup Women National held at Nainital.
    • c) Ms. Jyoti Gora BA Prog IIyr- 4th Rank in Senior National Fencing Championship, and selected for Federation Cup.

  • 9.HONOURS/DISTINCTIONS RECEIVED BY FACULTY MEMBERS AT THE INTERNATIONAL/NATIONAL LEVEL:
    • a) Dr. Mamta Sehrawat, Asst. Prof. in Dept. of Physical Education won 2nd place in 4X50mts Medley Relay and a bronze medal in 50 mts. free style in the 8th Masters National Aquatic Championship from 22nd to 24th Dec,2011, held at Bangalore. She also secured a bronze medal in shot put event in the 33rd Masters National Championship, held at Bangalore from 23rd to 26th Feb,2012.

      • i) Dr.Charru Sharma, Associate Prof, Dept. of Home Science, presented a paper entitled "Enhancing Creativity Among Children through Creative Drama: Going Beyond Pedagogical Praxis in Indian primary schools." at the 4th Redesigning Pedagogy International Conference organized at Singapore.
      • ii) Dr.Amrita Mehta, Asst. Prof. in Dept. of English, presented a paper entitled "Embodying Desire and Sexuality Across Borders: Diasporic Indian Women's Poetry in English" at an International Conference on South Asian and Caribbean Poetry held under the aegis of the Reprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg, Germany from 12-14 April, 2012.

        • Entitled "Relation of Physical Education with General Education", at an International Symposium organized by Noida College of Physical Education, on 2nd and 3rd April,2011.
        • Entitled "Effect of Yogic Therapy on the Hypertension Variables on Police Personnel & Jail inmates of Tihar Jail" in an International Seminar organized by Benaras Hindu University.
