Food Technology exists as a combination of skill and science at both industrial and domestic level. This subject provides useful knowledge about preparation of bakery products such as breads, pastries, cakes, biscuits etc, canned food, as well as preserves such as squashes, jams, jellies, pickles, marmalades, sauce, chutney etc. Study of this subject prepares the students to set up their own bakery/ canning units and or market their products at a small scale.
The B.A. Programme students can opt for Food Technology as a Discipline Course and study it during all the three years of the degree programme
The Food Technology laboratory is well equipped with equipment such as micro-oven, toaster-oven/griller, digital weighing scales, nutrient scale, OHP and other essential facilities.
The laboratory has 10 workstations sufficient for a group of 20 students in a group.
The college provides the raw materials as well as equipment, utensils and lab coats necessary for the students to do their practicals
Before the end of each academic session, students who opt for this course are given a counseling session aimed at guiding them about the future prospects and options available in this field.
All three faculty members are in the process of writing practical manuals for all three years jointly with other faculty members of the same Dept of the University.
