Nutrition & Health Education

The discipline and application courses on Nutrition and Health Education provides a clear understanding of the importance of good health, hygiene, and clean environment besides ample knowledge about nutritious food and methods of preparing healthy meals. Students also learn about health hazards such as smoking, alcoholism, drug addiction and food poisoning. This course is very useful for those seeking to become a good community health workers or manage the health of their families efficiently.

The BA Programme students can opt for Nutrition and Health Education as a Discipline Course and study it during all the three years of the degree programme or avail of it as an Application Course in the third year subject to the rules regarding permissible combination of different courses under the B.A. Programme

Laboratory and other facilities

The Nutrition and Health Education laboratory is well equipped with equipment such as micro-oven, toaster-oven/griller, digital weighing scales, nutrient scale, OHP and other essential facilities.

The laboratory has 10 workstations sufficient for a group of 20 students in a group.

The college provides the raw materials as well as equipment, utensils and lab coats necessary for the students to do their practicals

Students counseling/placement

Before the end of each academic session, students who opt for this course are given a counseling session aimed at guiding them about the future prospects and options available in this field.

Publications

A Text book for the Application course students has been published by Ms. Anupama Aggarwal and Ms. Punita Sethi jointly with three other faculty members of the Department of the University.
